about this page
my thoughtsThis story truly shows the magic of friendship and the power of failing over and over again in order to achieve greatness. Ichigo simply accepts that she is bad at baking and works long hours to make up for her lack of experience. One scene that sticks out to me is when she realizes that Kashino, a stoic and somewhat abrasive Sweets Prince famous for his chocolatier skills, is most tough on himself and quietly practices his abilities in the early mornings before class. This is when Ichigo understands that he demands greatness from his team and himself and always aims to improve. Kashino’s mentality inspires her to work hard instead of abandoning her newfound dreams by dropping out. (This is my version of the sports-anime-workout-grind-cutscence.)
sweets princes:
He specializes in chocolate. Kashino comes from a prestigious family of doctors who do not approve of his career choice. Due to a condition that his family gave him before attending St.Marie, he is forced to be always at the top of his class. Kashino is generally unsociable, straightforward, easily angered, and prickly. Andou is his childhood friend and Hanabusa is his roommate. Kashino is sometimes teased or misjudged due to his height, for he is the shortest of the Sweets Princes. Sweets Spirit: Choco
He specializes in candy sculptures and flower-based cakes. Hanabusa's dream is to work with his mother, who excels at Japanese flower arrangement, and is the flower arranging teacher at St.Marie Academy. His father was a horticulturist who specialized in roses, and who died in a car accident several years before the story takes place. Since his father’s death, he makes sure to treat all women with great kindness and gentleness, often carrying roses. He also seems heavily concerned about his appearance. Sweets Spirit: Cafe
He specializes in Japanese sweets. Andou's dream is to open his own shop that sells a blend of Eastern and Western sweets next door to his family's Japanese sweets shop. Andou is always calm, reliable, and tries to reason with everyone, acting somewhat like an older brother to Team Ichigo. Sweets Spirit: Caramel
plot summary
Fourteen-year-old Ichigo Amano is clumsy and doesn't have any talent except for eating sweets (specifically cakes). When she stumbles upon a Sweets Festival, she meets Henri-sensei who acknowledges her ability of taste and invites her to transfer to St. Marie Academy to become a pâtissière. Ichigo has trouble adjusting initially, but with the help of the 3 Sweets Princes (Makoto Kashino, Satsuki Hanabusa, and Sennosuke Andou) and the Sweets Spirits (Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel, and Cafe), she gains the confidence and skill to work towards becoming a pâtissière. At the boarding school, she attends regular classes alongside baking classes, and competes in tournaments with the Sweets Princes in her team. (Release Date: 2009/10/04) [ref].

romance
You might have guessed that Kashino is Ichigo's romantic interest. He does the whole stoic-sarcastic-driven thing but secrelty bro cares about everyone reaching their potential and often cares for Ichigo when she ends up in another disaster < 3
fan content
I looooved this video and it's the first time I've seen fan content and discussions about the show!!
Season 2
I know that I watched season two before, in which Ichigo returns from her studies abroad in Paris. Buuuuut I don't really remember anything that happens and I don't know where I can watch it :((( Aw man maybe I'll be able to update this section in the future.
Amano Ichigo (Ichigo いちご meaning strawberry in Japanese) has no big aims for her life, but she has always been inspired by her late grandmother’s ability to bring a smile to people’s faces through baking delicious treats. One childhood memory at her grandmother’s bakery sticks out in her mind, where an elaborate strawberry tart and her sweet words stopped her from crying. In the first episode, Ichigo learns that her grandmother also trained at St. Marie Academy and was a renowned pâtissière.
grindset At the boarding school, she struggles to fit in. It is her first time living away from her home, she has no experience with advanced French baking, and she falls behind on her schoolwork too. It is with the help of the Sweets Spirit Vanilla (small fairies from the Sweets Kingdom tasked with assisting young bakers to complete their own magical Pâtisserie training), the Sweets Princes (the three most skilled and popular boys in her class), and her own determination and hard work that she overcomes every challenge.
resilience
Ichigo remains resilient through all of the challenges she faces from episode one, the very first challenge being that her mom is lowkey her biggest hater. She remains sweet and hard-working and truly shines because her ambition is always to brighten people’s days through her creations. I’m obsessed with this show and I’m sure that my love for strawberry and chocolate aesthetics came from it. I owe half of my personality to this anime…
Sadaharu Aoki is a Japanese chef patissier in Paris, France. He is known for using traditional Japanese ingredients and flavors in French-style pastries. He is also known as a food consultant for Yumeiro Pâtissière manga, as claimed by the series author Natsumi Matsumoto. [ref]
There's a subplot about the Sweets Kingdom, where the Sweets Spirits live and work as bakers. When Ichigo first arrives at St. Marie Academy, she encounters a beautiful statue of a fairy, with a plaque stating that this is the Queen of the Sweets Spirits. Only people who have Sweets Spirits can see them. Sweet Spirits can't help out in school tests. After taking an entrance exam, they are given permission to go to the human world and partner with a human in St. Marie Academy. They help their partner make sweets, and send Sweets Cards of the finished products to the queen of the Sweets Kingdom. The dream of every sweet spirit that has partnered with a human is to become Court Patissieres in the Sweets kingdom [ref].
